Abstract:

Manuscript copy of De consideratione quintae essentiae rerum omnium. When compared with the Basilae, 1561 ed., this manuscript has a different (incomplete) preface, and lacks the appended works of Arnauldus de Villanova and Ramon Llull. Main text begins with a later illuminated initial D in 5 lines, using gold ink and colors (green, red, blue.) Author of preface not identified, leaves [1-4] badly rubbed, affecting text. Leaves [59-51] contain a fragment of Michele Savonarola's De arte conficiendi aquam vitae. Leaves [51-51v], beginning Remediuz notabit itra ... has an unattributed remedy for catarrah. Parchment, written ca. 27 lines per page; small gothic rotunda by one scribe; later ink foliation; some marginalia; penwork initials, alternating red and blue versals and paragraph marks. Modern cloth binding; accompanied by 2 dealers' descriptions, one in German, the other Italian.
